Intense Pulse Light Therapy (IPL/RF)
This is our least aggressive treatment that uses high intensity pulses of visible light combined with radio frequency energy to treat a variety of skin conditions, including:
- Facial lines and wrinkles-provides a more youthful appearance, IPL is referred to as a “photoFacial” or “photo rejuvenation”
- Vascular lesions, including spider angiomas, broken facial veins, rosy cheeks (flushing), and the redness (erythema) of rosacea
- Freckles and age spots
- Acne (mild to moderate)
If you have freckles, sun damage, or red patches that you’d like to minimize consider this treatment as a starting point. This energy platform helps even out skin tone and leaves skin looking and feeling softer and smoother—all with minimal recovery time.
As your treatment series progresses, you will see noticeable improvement, including the reduction or elimination of blemished areas, lightening of brown sun and age spots, an improvement in general skin tone and texture, and less overall redness.
This is an effective treatment method for both men and women, and for those in any stage of the aging process. The procedure can be performed on the face as well as the neck, chest, and hands.Treatments need to be done as a series, usually 3 to 5 treatments, although some patients require more sessions. Your initial treatments will be done every 3-4 weeks. After that, maintenance treatments are recommended every 3-6 months to maintain the effects.
Lori was very kind/patient and walked me through everything before and after the treatment. I have had two treatments on my face and love the results. Once again, CARING STAFF and EXCELLENT RESULTS! Mykel C.
What does an IPL PhotoFacial feel like?
PhotoFacial treatments are non-ablative (no tissue is removed) so they can easily be done any day or time. You may return to normal activities and put makeup on after your treatment as there is no downtime. Improvements in skin tone and texture, as well as color and overall redness are visible after each session but a series of 5 treatments is recommended for optimal results. We will customize a skin care regimen to accelerate your results and help you maintain your improvements once you complete your series of treatments.
Who is a good candidate for an IPL PhotoFacial?
Anyone interested in softer, smoother, healthier–looking skin can benefit from this treatment. Patients with darker skin may not be a good candidate. The best treatment for darker ethnicities is our PicoWay® laser treatment as this laser is able to do all skin colors and types. Sun damage, uneven skin color, and even redness and flushing associated with rosacea are improved substantially with a PhotoFacial. Fine lines and wrinkles gradually appear softer while pores are refined. Deep and heavier lines and wrinkles are better treated with our CO2 laser. Broken capillaries, freckles, ruddy complexion are also dramatically reduced. PhotoFacial RF provides progressive, long-lasting results, leaving you with softer, younger looking skin. It is used to both repair the skin as well as maintain it.
